Marijuana Addiction

Marijuana Addiction

There are many different studies on the “gateway” drug question.  One thing that is certain is that many more children that try marijuana will go on to try other drugs.  This is the start of a vicious cycle of addiction and with the help of addiction treatment this cycle will be stopped.

Also, there is a misconception that marijuana cannot hurt anyone. “It just makes me feel better” is what the addict says.  Well actually, if you look into the statistics of the amount of people in jail and or on probation for marijuana possession they might reconsider that statement.  Not only do you go to jail but other consequences are likely; loss of license, jobs and missed opportunities of a successful life

Don’t be fooled by misconceptions of marijuana use.  Many addicts started out using marijuana and escalated to the use of harder street drugs:  heroin, cocaine and meth.  Marijuana is a gateway drug that affects not only the addict but everyone around the addict.
