Bring the Dog

Drug DogBringing a dog to the house of a suspected drug user is a start in terms of scaring someone straight perhaps.   However, like drug tests, this system can be fooled – someone could take their cocaine or heroin somewhere else before the dog comes.

We need a unified push for effective drug addiction treatment and education, not bit and piece handlings if our next generation is going to make it at all.

Individual efforts are appreciated, but the society as a whole has to wake up.

“Parents who suspect that their kids are using drugs can now rent a retired drug dog from a Chandler, Ariz., woman to help sniff out evidence, the Phoenix New Times reported April 13.

Amy Halm and her dog, Dargo — operating as “Desert Drug Dog” — will come into the family home and conduct a search for a fee. Dargo formerly worked for a police department in Indiana and was adopted by Halm after being retired.”
