Biophysical Drug Rehab

Biophysical Approach

Biophysical Approach

A biophysical drug rehab program is one in which the individual undergoes treatment for addiction that includes physically addressing the biological roots of the addiction as well as the mental and emotional aspects of addiction. In general, these type programs offer a much stronger recovery rate than more traditional treatment approaches in part due to the more intensive therapeutic handling of issues like cravings, guilt and depression very commonly associated with addiction.

Addressing the underlying cause of cravings gives these programs a much higher success rate than found in other types of programs

The “biophysical” aspect of these type drug rehab programs refer to the application of physical principles and methods to a strictly biological problems. This is, of course, in reference to the drugs having stored and built up in the body over weeks, months or years and then latter being released back into the individual’s blood stream causing severe and unmanageable cravings to use more of the drug or alcohol.

Long Term Inpatient Drug Rehab

92% of all inpatient drug rehab centers around the country are only about 28 to 30 days in length. The 28 day rehab was based originally on insurance companies. The insurance companies decided that a person could be cured in 28 days and treatment programs followed suit. This period of time is just not long enough for most people to acquire the skills that they need in order to stay sober. This is why long term, open ended treatment is necessary for anyone to overcome their addiction.

Drug Detox

Detox services are classically considered the 3 to 10 days of “drying out” from drug or alcohol use. Put more simply, it is commonly known as the immediate withdrawal of the body from the substance it is physically addicted to. The severity of the withdrawal process varies widely from individual to individual and has much to do with the particular substance the person is addicted to.
